Tour KC Crime Lab

I2SL is hosting a tour of the KC Crime Lab following the joint lunch meeting with KC ASHRAE on the Crime Lab. The tour will start at 1:30 and will last approximately 45-60 minutes. The crime lab is a full-service laboratory offering forensic analysis and expert testimony in chemistry, crime scene processing, DNA analysis, digital evidence, firearms, fingerprint ID, latent prints and trace analysis.

Prior to the tour, I2SL is hosting a joint lunch meeting on the KC Crime Lab with ASHRAE from 11:30 to 1:00 at the Holiday Inn & Suites OP West - 8787 Reeder Road, Overland Park KS 66214. Details on the lunch will be forthcoming.
KU's new Integrated Sciences Building. We saw the latest technology in sustainable labs that will attract top researchers to KU. We had over 60 people for the tour and over 25 for a happy hour at Merchants afterward.

We toured KU's new Integrated Sciences Building. We saw the latest technology in sustainable labs that will attract top researchers to KU. We had over 60 people for the tour and over 25 for a happy hour at Merchants afterward.

The University of Kansas is constructing the Integrated Sciences Building in Lawrence. Designed to maximize undergraduate engagement with faculty and researchers, the 280,000-sf interdisciplinary facility will provide active learning classrooms, teaching labs, and flexible research labs for chemistry, medicinal chemistry, physics, and molecular biosciences programs. Utilizing internal and external glass to put science on display, the project includes an auditorium, core imaging labs, clean rooms suites, and collaboration spaces.

David Leever of Burns & McDonnell and Tim Geary of The Stower's Institute gave examples of how to justify and fund sustainable lab retrofit projects. They focused on bottom line interests that facility decision-makers care most about.

Education Day at KU Edwards Best Conference Center
November 9, 2017

This event featured Dr. Marty Matlock, Executive Director of the University of Arkansas Office for Sustainability. Dr. Matlock opened with a discussion that sustainability is a social justice issue. Breakout sessions included topics on emerging technology in laboratories and case studies. The day closed with a panel of college facility managers discussing their sustainability efforts. Afterwards, participants headed to Pinstripes for networking, bowling, and bocce.

Education Day at UMKC Bloch School
August 19, 2016

This event offered a range of presentations from clean room design to designing a lab on an office budget to green chemistry. There was an owners panel to discuss issues and challenges related to sustainability on campus. After the event, several participants attended a Sporting Kansas City soccer game.
